Education is an important matter for us. It is a big decision to decide what we want to study and where, also what kind of degree we want to pursue, because our decision will have a big impact on us.
I'm a student myself. I have been through that difficult stage where we have to think hard and carefully. So I know that it is not easy to find the right education for us.
We have a wider option now with the internet. Online learning. Some might require us to attend a class once in a while, some might not. This method provides an education to people who have difficulties getting one through traditional means (i.e. on-campus education). But this method requires more self- discipline as we'll be working on our own aside from those online meetings with our tutors or fellow students and e-mails to or from our tutors or fellow students. So this is not an easy option to get a degree. We have to work just as hard if not harder as if we attend a university.
Whether you're thinking to take your education through traditional methods or non traditional methods, let me point out a few things you need to bear in mind:

  • Accreditation.  Does accreditation matter to you? If so, is the school you want to get your degree from accredited? If so, is it accredited by a legitimate agency?
  • What would you really really like to study? And I do mean what you'd really really like to study. If you like the subject, you'll be interested in studying it, you're unlikely to get bored, and you'll be able to really put your mind into it. Being interested in a subject is a good encouragement to study that subject.
  • Don't just pick out a major because it sounds so good or prestigious.
  • Don't pick out a school because it sounds prestigious. Make sure the university is of a good quality.
  • Would you rather study where (almost) everyone knows you or you're just a face in the crowd? Compare class size and teacher to students ratio.
  • See if the schools you have your eyes on have a good selection of students life outside campus.
So, again, think about these:
Accreditation, your interests, the quality of the school, and social life outside school.

There are, of course, other things to think about, such as how to finance your education. You will be able to find a page about this matter here.

Here in Student's Lounge, I have put a list of educational sites and resources. I hope you find this site helpful. And please come back often as the site is updated frequently.
